Smaug Wins An Award and More

Benedict Cumberbatch wins an Olivier acting award

Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller just won the Olivier for Best Actor, which they share for their co-starring performance in Frankenstein where they swapped the roles of Dr. Frankenstein and the Creature. This is not the first time a Best Actor award has been bestowed upon their tandem performance, and only confirms the brilliance of this show. Luckily, for those of us who did not get to see the play, the National Theater will be broadcasting both performances at theaters all over the UK, USA and Canada for now, with other countries in the works. You can find out how to get a chance to see this broadcast at National Theater.

You can read all about the Olivier Awards and this win on their website at Olivier Awards. Benedict was unable to appear, he’s got a very busy schedule, but word has it that Johnny Lee Miller had a lovely acceptance speech. On behalf of TheOneRing.net, a really big congratulations to both actors.

After a year of announcements, debates and discoveries, the Hobbit Movie Discussion Boards’ attention is drawn to the growing number of wraps that are occurring or soon will be.  The Master of Lake-townStephen Fry, has wrapped his scenes, while comments have been made that tell of Gandalf and Bilbo finishing up around July.  TORn posters feel it in the earth that we’re nearing the last lap.  With only 8 month’s to go before “An Unexpected Journey” begins, posters discuss how they feel when they think about the filming coming to an end.  So much to ponder, so much to discuss!  Tell us what you think!

While discussions of The Hobbit are fast and furious, TORn posters still enjoy sharing thoughts and questions of Tolkien’s books.  Over in the Reading Room, poster Nightingale wonders about Frodo sensing the rings of the other Ring-bearers.  Come join in on the conversation here.

And TORn Discussion Board members will always be fascinated with The Lord of the Rings films as they indulge in SCOD (Screencap of the Day).  Every day we choose a screencap from the films and just having fun talking about it.  It’s a wonderful way to keep Peter Jackson’s movies fresh and trigger some great observations.  Come on in and let us know what you think!
